Report on the Talk on Public Speaking
on 11.10.2017
The Kautilya Parishad, the department of Economics society, organized a
talk on the topic “Public Speaking” on October 11, 2017 in the Seminar Hall at
5:00 pm. The speaker on the occasion was Mr. Majinder Singh, Product Head and
Senior Councilor in the T.I.M.E. Institute. He is a post graduate in Management
having 10 years of experience in teaching and banking and has been heading the
T.I.M.E. education under graduate course for 6 years. The talk was also
attended by his other team members – Mr. Rudra Bahadur, Marketing Executive;
Mr. Laksh Paul, Centre Head and Ms. Alka B, SRE of T.I.M.E. Institute.
The talk began with lighting of the lamp and was followed by
inspirational words from our Principal, Dr. R. K. Gupta. During the talk, the
speaker emphasized on three key points of the art of speaking in public –
knowledge, communication and confidence. The audience was convinced of the fact
that the fear of speaking on a stage is one of the strongest hurdle in public
speaking. The speaker gave certain tips to the students for speaking
confidently in public like reaching the place before time, walking on the stage
prior to the presentation to make one familiar with it and making eye contact
with the audience while speaking. He also educated the audience about important
points to be kept in mind while preparing for and making a power point
presentation. The students learned a lot about speaking confidently in public
and on a stage.
The talk ended by a formal vote of thanks, extended by the Convener of
Kautilya Parishad – Ms. Geeta Ahuja.
